Tour Guide Trainer

Who Am I?

Margaret Hicks.

Honestly? Being a tour guide trainer is the best thing I do. I’ve been a tour guide for 11 years, owned my own business for 6 years. And before that? I was a comedian. I’ve been improvising in Chicago for over 15 years and am proud to say I am the official docent of the Second City Comedy Club.

I’m also a traveler. Being a traveler has most definitely helped me become a better tour guide. And improvisation works all over the world. The TourBoost travels – if you’re looking to train your tour guides for a more Western state of mind – let’s talk.

Others can help facilitate an improv workshop, what’s different about me is that I know from experience. I’ve been on the streets, the bus, the boat, the museum. I know the struggles and I know a way to help. I’m an affable and friendly coach – I realize the idea of improvisation can be scary so I have a gentle touch.

I work with students, museum docents and tour guides. I’ll work with you the next state over or the next country over. I’ll schedule a full day, week or every day for a month.

Feel free to check out my tour business, Chicago Elevated.

And my Trip Advisor reviews.

If you’re looking for something different for your guides, docents or students – call me. I can help.
